Hey there, I’m CJ, a cinematic storytelling photographer based in Tokyo, Japan.

I fell in love with photography through travel. Living abroad in Japan, Australia, and the UK shaped the way I see people and places not as spectacles, but as lived experiences. I began as a freelance travel photographer and gradually moved into portrait work, drawn to moments that feel honest, heartfelt, and deeply human.

My work is rooted in authenticity. I believe the most powerful photographs happen when people are fully present rather than performing for the camera. I focus on natural connection, quiet emotion, and the in between moments that often go unnoticed but carry the most meaning.

I photograph people in between chapters.

Not perfect versions of themselves, but who they are right now in this season in their lives.

My work is for couples who care less about recreating specific locations and more about capturing a feeling, a season, or a turning point in their lives. Japan becomes a setting rather than a prop. The story always comes first.

I’m drawn to images that feel cinematic yet unforced, playful yet grounded, and alive with real emotion. Trust matters in my process. I guide, observe, and interpret rather than stage every moment, allowing your connection to unfold naturally.
